The Donor Quilt

The Hawaii Donor Quilt is a living tribute—one that will never be complete. It continues to grow as new families are welcomed to honor their loved ones and share their stories through this meaningful tradition.

Each quilt square represents a life, a legacy, and the profound generosity of those who gave the gift of organ and tissue donation. There is no deadline to participate. This is an ongoing project that ensures every donor family has the opportunity to be part of something deeply special and lasting.

Together, these squares form a powerful visual reminder of the lives touched and saved, and the love that continues through transplantation. The quilt stands as both a tribute and an inspiration—honoring donors while encouraging others to consider giving the gift of life.

To date, five Hawaii Donor Quilt panels have been created, featuring more than 175 handcrafted squares. These panels are displayed at events and locations across the state, offering moments of reflection, remembrance, and connection for our community.

In 2019, the Hawaii Donor Quilt marked its 20th anniversary—a milestone that reflects the enduring strength, compassion, and aloha of our donor families. With each new square, the quilt continues to grow, carrying forward the legacies of those who gave so selflessly.
